For someone that doesn’t like Christmas, I sure spend a lot of time watching Hallmark Christmas movies

I admit it, these are a guilty pleasure of mine. To be fair, though, most of the time I put them on I’m doing other things. Let’s face it, you don’t need to pay super close attention to these movies to get the general gist. And either way, it’s the same formula – pretty girl, good looking dude, Christmas, drama, happily ever after.

Some times it’s just nice to see a happily ever after, you know?

Life isn’t like that. The story doesn’t end at happily ever after. Sometimes there’s divorce, adultery, bankruptcy, crippling debt, kids, illnesses, death.

My life definitely hasn’t been happily ever after. Sure, Mike and I are still going strong after all of these years, but we’ve had a lot of hard times. But at the end of the day, I’m lucky that we’ve stuck by each other through all of the ups and downs.

Maybe that’s my happily ever after?

I’m really starting to hate that word. Maybe.

It’s such a non-decisional (is that a word?) word. Yes or no. Stay or go. Come or not. Maybe. Life is full of too many maybes.

So you know what? I’m going to sit here with my Ramen and Doritos and Diet Coke and watch this sappy movie and enjoy it for what it is.
